Lecturing in:  Drama and Poetry

Melbourne born in 1952, Tony has wide experience as a teacher, writer and director. In 2012, he returned from 20 years in South East Asia, where he was Head of Performing Arts at an international school; encountering students of many ages and nationalities. He’s mounted productions of Shakespeare, Beckett and Brecht among others, in addition to writing several plays himself.

Tony Page has also been publishing poetry since the early 1980’s in numerous literary magazines within Australia and overseas. He has three books to his credit:  They’re Knocking At My Door (1986),  Satellite Link (1992) and most recently in 2004 – Gateway to the Sphinx, with an introduction by Phillip Adams.  An avid performer of his work, he has read from at most of the established venues around Melbourne in addition to appearances at the Edinburgh Arts Festival, Shakespeare & Co in Paris, Venice Commonwealth Literature Conference, Malayasia, Thailand and in the USA.

During his 30 year teaching career, he has devised methods for making poetry open and accessible to all; no matter what the student’s previous background.

Tony has been a tutor at U3A City branch since February 2012, conducting courses in Great Plays of the 20th Century and Theatre Through the Ages.
